Things to Know

With registration well underway we are starting to prepare for a streamline one day ticket turn in/equipment pick up process. This will be held on September 6, 2014 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Hallett Center and Breezy Point Hockey Center. All raffle tickets will need to be turned in on or before this date. (No exceptions) Tickets can be turned in early to Wendy Przybylski.

We will have a raffle ticket turn in
Equipment swap
Lightning Apparel ordering through letterman’s.

With that happening we need to staff both the Hallett Center and Breezy Point Arena with volunteers to help out. We are looking to have 2-3 people per shift and to fill 8:30-12:30 and 12-4 p.m.  We can organize the volunteers or you can get a group of people together to help out. We are also in need of people to help swap out equipment at both places.

This day is a key day to get all of our players registered and our raffle organized. Please consider helping out at one of these locations for a day- if you can’t make a whole shift and could only do an hour or so please let us know and we will accommodate your request.

Reminder that the registration deadline is August 31, 2014. Registrations received September 1 or after will incur a $50 late fee per player (new members exempt)

Hairball

NLYHA parents, players & fans,

We are excited to announce that our Northern Lakes Lightning Youth Hockey Association (NLYHA) will present Hairball in concert on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Breezy Point Ice Arena rain or shine! If weather is a concern, the concert will move indoors.

"The Hairball concert is a great way to finish up your summer and kick off the upcoming hockey season!  Northern Lakes Youth Hockey Association is pleased to bring back Hairball rain or shine for its third year.  Attending the event is a fun time and a show of support for our skaters.  Please come out and have a good time while keeping hockey affordable for area players." , said Mike Paulbeck, NLYHA Board President.

We need your support and you can help in a number of ways:

1.       Share this event information with all your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers. We have a very limited marketing budget, and we need your help to get the word out! Spreading the word on social media is a great source and free.

2.       Buy tickets and come enjoy the concert. Do this early and encourage your friends to do the same! Ticket locations are listed below.

3.       Volunteer – there are opportunities to help before, during and after the show. All volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket. Please email Kristi Duff at kjduff@gmail.com with what area you would like to help or also if you have any ideas/suggestions!

Gates will open at 5:00 pm, with two opening bands. Hairball will take the main stage at 8:00 pm.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Advanced tickets will be available at the following locations: Pequot Lakes SuperValu, Cub Foods – Brainerd & Baxter, Reed’s Market – Crosslake, Maucieri’s - Crosslake, Paulbeck’s Country Market in Aitkin, Barstock Liquors – Crosby.

Numerous food items, beer and liquor will be available for purchase at the event. New this year, the Association is partnering with Maucieri’s for food and alcohol sales/service.

VIP tickets are also available for $100 and include: complimentary food and drinks, VIP parking and bathrooms, and possibly a Meet & Greet with Hairball!

Thank you in advance for your help in supporting this fun event. Go Lightning!

Sniper Club Challenge

NLYHA Families,

Below you will find the Sniper Club information and prizes. The Board has decided to utilize the 10,000 pucks challenge at hockeyshare.com
where you can track your own shots and see how you are doing against others your age in our association.

This is a great way to get your players outside, challenged, and working on their hockey skills!

Happy Shooting!!

Raffle Ticket Information

For those of you who were unable to attend the banquet on April 3 and are in need of getting your Big Cash Raffle tickets please contact Lori Elfering on her Cell   612-221-2216 or by Email    lorielfering@gmail.com.

Also just a reminder that NLYHA will be implementing an equipment policy for the 2014-2015 season for the 12U, PeeWee, and Bantam levels which requires these players have black helmets black breezers, and black/red gloves. This change is being made to display a more professional/uniform look and feel while representing our association.

Communications/Email

The best way to communicate with the players/parents is through email and the website.  A majority of the time you will receive emails from your teams coach or team manager.  When they send an email out, it is meant to let you know important information regarding your team.  To make sure that everyone receives the information in a timely manner, we need to make sure that all emails associated with your player are in your player's profile.  By going into your profile, you can add emails to make certain that Mom, Dad, and the player (if they have email) will receive information.  Below is a link to the NGIN Help.  Click on the link and you should be brought to a webpage that has instructions for adding emails to your account.

***NOTE***  Make sure that you look at the "Contact Preferences" and that the email box is checked for Northern Lakes Lightning Youth Hockey Association.  You will not receive emails from the association if it is not checked.

Another useful tool for getting information/schedules for your players team is the NGIN Sports App for your smart phones.  The App is available for both iPhones and Droids.  Go to your respective App page and query NGIN Sports App.  Upload it to your phone and follow instructions from there.  The App will allow you to follow one team for free.  If you have players on two different teams, there is an annual subscription of $1.99.  The App will have the teams schedule and game results among other things.  If you have a Peewee, Bantam, or 12U, you will see that there are two teams to select from; one will be from the District 15 Website and the other from ours.  If you want schedule information, you will need to pick the team from our site.

Any questions, you can email me at erik.lee@tds.net

Thank you,

Erik Lee

Board Minutes and Agenda's

Board Minutes and Agenda's will be posted as soon as they become available.  You will find them under the "Board" tab above.  The Board will attempt to get the agenda out for the meeting as soon as it is set.  Please be patient as the agenda changes frequently prior to the meeting.  Minutes will be placed on the website as soon as the Board approves the minutes, typically at the following meeting.
